What are tablet passes on jail ATM? ›

Each inmate is allowed (15) minutes of free tablet usage every (3) hours, unless a gold pass is purchased which allows (24) hours of unlimited access. Family members and friends of inmates will need to register an account on JailATM.com to be able to communicate via messaging.

Deposits and Purchases

Tech Friends JailATM website and kiosks may be used to make allowed purchases for, or deposit money for use by, inmates of jails, prisons, or other places of government-sponsored incarceration or detention of individuals.

A Social Security Number is required on the account in order to make a deposit to a resident. This is for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Is my Social Security number a secret bank account? ›

No. Your Social Security number is not a bank account.

If an inmate asks you to put “money on his book” so he can make commissary purchases there are several ways you can do it; You can MAIL in a money order or cash. We highly recommend that you don't send cash through the mail. Personal checks are not accepted.

Inmates are allowed to receive messages, via e-mail, through the JailATM website. Inmates may also receive picture attachments so long as they meet requirements. Messages and attachments can be viewed by inmates any time they have access to the visitation kiosks.

Friends and family members can deposit money on an inmate's trust account using Visa and Mastercard credit cards or debit cards through the above link. Inmates can also receive care packs from friends and family members through JailATM.com.
