The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) is a transit agency that serves most of the Oregon part of the Portland metropolitan area.

TriMet provides bus, light rail and commuter rail service in the Portland, Oregon, region.

You have a faulty HOP card

If your registered HOP card isn't working, please contact us and we'll replace it for free. To transfer your balance and any HOP products (such as monthly passes, concessions or auto top-ups), register your new card to your account.

It is recommended that each person pay their own fare using their own AT HOP card. You can pay for other people using the credit on your AT HOP card - you would pay $4.00 for each adult (aged 16 years and older) and $2.00 for each child (aged 0 - 15 years).

Cash is not accepted on buses – bus travel must be paid for with a HOP card. AT HOP cardholders can use their HOP money to buy a full-price ticket for anyone who doesn't have a HOP card. Cash may be used to buy single tickets for train travel.

TriMet has approximately 12 miles of paved track, seven miles of direct fixation track, and more than 100 miles of tie and ballast track. Reserved lane trackways are paved flush with the street.

However, after creating a virtual Hop card you can contact Hop Customer Service at 1-844-MYHOPCARD (694-6722) to transfer the balance from an existing plastic card registered to the same Hop account.

Hop ticket machines at MAX and WES stations

MAX ticket machines accept credit/debit cards or cash. WES ticket machines accept cards only. Hop tickets are single-use paper tickets with electronics inside, good for either 2½ hours or one day (valid until 3 a.m.), starting immediately at the time of purchase.

To pay, tap the green Hop reader at the MAX/WES station or inside the bus every time you board. You can tap with your phone or contactless credit card to pay the $2.80 Adult fare. Or, tap with a Hop card, virtual Hop card or Hop ticket.
