Waypoint names sent to autopilots are truncated because some other devices will not accept names longer than, say, 6 characters.

There is an existing option within the .ini file to set the maximum name length but this has no effect on the truncation of names emitted in NMEA sentences RMB APB and perhaps others. The option setting should be followed.

Reason for request

Truncation is problematic when active waypoint information is sent over NMEA, such as in the JavaScript script to get devices to shadow OCPN.

Now I realized that the same problem is also occurring with some of the new Plugins, adding to the fact that when updating some of these new Plugins in the new update system, the new versions are installed, but the previous ones also remain and therefore are not uninstalled automatically, such as UKTides, Windvane, PhotoLayer, etc, also remaining in the List of Plugins in the Settings Folder, on the tab Options > Plugins.

Some buttons from the previous Plugin that was updated disappear, so they cannot be uninstalled manually, leaving the old and the new in the List of Plugins.
In the case of additional excess icons in the Toolbar Plugins, when the OpenCPN is turned off and on, the icons partially normalize, not in all cases, but the installers listed, remain in duplicate and with some buttons absent in the case of previous versions .

If you run Options/Chartdownloader", then download, by example, a charset, then, the stopwatch does not automatically return to zero if you move the mouse. It is also impossible to act on the operation of whatchdog in this case.

Reason for this is as follows.When alternating between coastal and offshore cruising, the needs are different and I keep changing several settings manually, especially the Shallow, Safety and Deep Depths. When doing coastal cruising close inshore, I generally set them at about 2, 5 and 10 meters, which is good for pilotage, such as passing close to coral reefs, sand banks, rocks off headlands, etc. When going on oceanic passages, I set them at about 100, 200 and 1000 meters, which clearly shows the location of the continental shelf and of other seamounts, and is therefore important to anticipate changes in the wave patterns and the oceanic currents. Sometimes, I even change to settings in between when doing longer passages along a coast, so a third setting could even make sense. Furthermore, the change in settings should not be limited to depth limits but also to showing different kinds of data.Building an entire profile management tool could be possible, but it might be simpler to leverage the existing Display Category setting, which at present allows to switch between Base, Standard, All and Mariner's Setting. This last one is the only custom setting, and could be replaced by three settings : Inshore, Offshore and Oceanic. It would be nice if the user can select the way the time clock is displayed (UTC or Local time). This can be quite confusing, in the clock is displayed is in UTC while orther plugins (gribs) can displayed it in UTC or local zone (choice given to the user). Serge

I can see the following possibilities :

In Dashboard Preferences > Appearance > Units, Ranges, Formats , add radio buttons or a dropbox to select between :

• UTC, Local or both.

- In Dashboard Preferences > Dashboard > Instruments ,

Rename the current instrument widgets to Clock UTC and Sunrise/Sunset UTC, and

then add

• Clock Local,
• Sunrise/Sunset Local,
• Sunrise/Sunset Both,
• Sunrise/Sunset Local, and Sunrise/Sunset Both

I would like to see an option in the settings to automatically turn on Auto Follow after a certain period of time , in seconds.
